What Does the Comprehensive Psycho-Educational Evaluation Entail?

Duration: 30 days (Steps 1-6)

The psycho-educational evaluation includes the following components, when applicable:

  • Step 1: Parent Consultation & Interview – To gather background information about the child’s development, academic history, and any areas of concern.  Parent/Caregiver will complete intake forms, rating scales (if applicable) and sign a release of records to the child’s current school and ensure copies of recent standardized testing scores and report cards are provided. Parents/Caregivers must agree to be available for communication and updates regarding the evaluation process during the 30-day timeline.

  • Step 2: Teacher Questionnaires/Rating Scales (if applicable) – To gather additional information about the student’s performance in the school setting. The child’s current teacher’s email and/or phone number will need to be provided to obtain this information.

  • Step 3:  Records Review - To review previous report cards, attendance records, teacher comments, and/or standardized test scores.

  • Step 4:  Student Testing – Standardized assessments of cognitive abilities, academic skills, and other relevant factors. Testing will be scheduled for a specific amount of hours based on the suspected disability.  Testing may occur in single or multiple sessions, depending on the student’s needs.

  • Step 5: Interpretation and Reporting – The evaluation results will be analyzed, and a comprehensive report will be written with recommendations for educational settings. The final report will detail the results, conclusions, and home/school-based recommendations.

  • Step 6: Feedback Session - A meeting with the parents/caregiver will be conducted in person or virtually, whichever the family prefers, to discuss the results of the evaluation and answer any questions.

Terms and Conditions:

  • The evaluation process is confidential and results will only be shared with the parents/caregivers.

  • If the school allows, observations in a structured setting will be scheduled.
